Less than a year out of William & Mary Law School, Max Klein found himself in the thick of Aspen’s legal scene—running cases from investigation to jury trial as the Pitkin County Deputy District Attorney. Managing hundreds of matters taught him more than just legal procedure; it showed him how the courtroom can be a place of both hope and hardship. Day in and day out, he noticed how many folks were struggling to find their footing, and it stuck with him.
In truth, Max has been on this track since high school debate, when mentors predicted his future as an attorney before he’d given it much thought. He even walked away from baseball to sharpen his debating chops, realizing early on that making a solid argument was every bit as thrilling as rounding the bases. That talent for persuasion is now a cornerstone of his practice—guiding clients through knotty legal terrain with a steady, confident voice.
Serving as District Attorney wasn’t just about filing charges or dismissing cases; it was about listening to people and helping them navigate some of the toughest moments of their lives. That’s what ultimately drew Max to The Aspen Lawyer—he wanted to continue offering personalized, empathetic support, free from the constraints of a prosecutorial role. For him, the law is a means to lift burdens, not just a set of rules on a page.
Above all else, Max is driven by a desire to make the system work better for everyone. Whether he’s in the courtroom or on the slopes, he brings dedication, curiosity, and a down-to-earth attitude to everything he does. An avid skier and snowboarder, Max’s first job in Aspen was at Aspen Ski Company, and he’s never lost his love of riding fresh powder. Max loves all that Aspen has to offer, and now that it is home, he’s honored to help his neighbors and visitors find the legal support they need, one case at a time.
